The APLB is a compassionate non-profit organization dedicated to helping people during this very special kind of bereavement. The APLB is constantly improving and publicizing all the services available concerning the loss of a pet. Many of the founders of this organization are established authors and counselors in this developing field. Their enthusiasm and expertise have helped create amazing growth and success. But about half its members are not professionals. They are compassionate pet lovers who have experienced grief over the loss of a beloved pet, and come to to learn about themselves and their special bereavement. In APLB chat rooms, hundreds have already accomplished this, while being supportive of others who also grieve. The APLB welcomes anyone who would like to be part of its caring community.  The APLB has created a unique service as a worldwide clearing house for all information on pet bereavement. The APLB publishes and regularly updates one of the best listing of books and tapes (in English) on this subject, The APLB maintains hotlines, support groups, and a growing registry of those who counsel in this specialized profession. The APLB quarterly newsletter reports on many bereavement problems that have never been published.
